Description
This
iron
kettle
(furo)
is
paired
with a
particular
kettle
(kama)
as a
set
.
It
is
crafted
in the
kimen
style
,
supported
by
three
legs
in a
tripod
formation
. The
use
of
iron
rather
than
bronze
evokes
an
informal
feeling
. An
opening
at the
front
and
rear
,
fashioned
in a
classic
shape
associated
with The
Way
of
Incense
,
provides
air
to the
fire
,
while
cut-outs
,
reminiscent
of
leaves
and
fruit
,
serve
as a
vent
. The "
ears
" on the
furo
are
fashioned
in the
shape
of
demon
masks
. The
rings
are
always
turned
upward
when
in
use
. The
style
of this
type
of
brazier
and
kettle
is
known
as
kirikake
, as they are
designed
