Description
L to R : Viola Uyemura Tsuruda , Barbara Jean Tsuruda (10 yrs) , Eleanor Ann Tsuruda (15 yrs) , Ronald Tsuruda (7 yrs) . Photograph from the Nakano family album . Asataro Nakano and Misao Gyotoku Nakano immigrated from Japan in the early 1900s . They settled in West Sacramento where they purchased land to farm . Their three children are: Margaret Shigeko Nakano , Ruth Kikue Nakano , and George Asato Nakano . The Nakano family and extended family members were sent to Amache Relocation Center during the Internment period . Upon release they settled in Denver , Colorado . Ruth Kikue Nakano was sent to Japan to live with a family before WWII . She returned to the United States and married Yoshio Harry Tsuruda .
